VIPO & Frankly Media
Frankly Media is a content rights management agency that extended from activities of the Virtual Intellectual Property Organization (VIPO). VIPO stands for the principle that the protection of virtual persona, virtual property, and related virtual intellectual property rights of users is a natural extension of basic human rights to expression and property.
The right of humans to be associated with and control the uses of their creative works is both a basic property and a basic human right. Article 17 of the 1948 Universal Declaration of Human Rights states that “Everyone has the right to own property alone as well as in association with others. No one shall be arbitrarily deprived of his property.’ Further, Article 27 (2) of the Declaration states that "Everyone has the right to the protection of the moral and material interests resulting from any scientific, literary or artistic production of which he is the author.”
VIPO takes this principle one step further and represents the position that these basic human rights also embody the right of humans to living conditions that must be met in order for creation to occur including access to safety, food, shelter, electricity, internet, air, and water. All of these rights must exist in order to support human creation as well as enjoyment of any pursuant property rights.
